Revert r7800 from dd-wrt firmware back to factory firmware

I have been attempting for two to revert my r7800 router from the dd-wrt firmware back to the original factory firmware. I have downloaded the oldest firmware available, R7800-V1.0.0.28.img (I know it's supposed to be a ".chk" file, but I am working off of a Mac), and uploaded it into the dd-wrt GUI, but the router never reverts to the Netgear firmware. I have watched 30 million YouTube videos on how to do this, but nothing works. I would appreciate any help on this one.

Something to ask the DD-WRT community about since you have that loaded. They should know how to get it back to factory FW.

like FURRYe38 says, you have to ask on their forum. Certain 3rd party firmware require specific steps and if you don't follow them, you can brick your device. Once you have it back on stock, we can help but until then, ask on the forum that can best help you.

  • Okay, well, tell me: Is the R7800-V1.0.0.28.img the initial firmware for this router? Every other router I look at states the initial firmware, but the R7800 does not.
