Router login dot dev
Was trying to change Wi-Fi password. Came across routerlogin.dev Stupid me for clicking on the suspicious website and the moment I enter that site, my a/v informed me that it has blocked a connection with a malware. Has anyone experienced this nonsense? Ran multiple scans with avast free version and Malwarebytes and came up with nothing, should I trust my a/v or should I factory reset my pc?
information from avast upon entering the site.
aborted connection with jootihub dot net reason blacklist url
I check the the aborted url and it seems to be leading to a .js file which is a JavaScript I believe.
ps I don’t want to post the url in full here in case some one might click on it.
I know it should be routerlogin.net or .com …. Stupid me for be careless.
any insight would be appreciated!

You might be fine with just a malware/antivirus scan.
but yes, a little on you for a random website. Whoops. It happens though.
Are you having issues?

No issues, pc seem to run like before. Just am concerned something is lurking somewhere. This is my spare router and I haven’t log into netgear in a while hence the careless mistake. Am hoping someone here might came across this site and is more knowledgeable on what’s on it.

Various crooked operations have registered routerlogin.net "lookalike" addresses. They are usually there to suck people into calling phone numbers that purport to be Netgear support.
Call one of them and they will try to sell you a support contract, often associated with insisting that you need a firewall for protection.
This is nonsense and can be dangerous if you allow them to access your network.
We see takes of woe as people turn up here and accuse Netgear of conning them. In reality, the culprit is Google, which guided them in the wrong direction.
Visiting those sites hasn't, as far as I can recall, resulted in any direct damage. You have to take the bait and place that call for bad things to happen.

Fortunately, I didn’t stay in that site long enough to find out but that does make sense thanks for the insight! However my a/v did block a potential adware/spamware so it got me thinking if anything else was install into my pc without my permission. Let’s hope my a/v did it’s job correctly and no harm is done.
it’s silly to think the reason why I use google search in the first place is because of avoiding the possibility of typing in the url incorrectly directly which then can lead to a imposter website.
Google delivers a bunch of lookalike websites like to you mentioned which bring me back to square 1. I agreed with you shame on google. - NorthandSouth82Aspirant

Yes. And Netgear doesn't do enough to find and suppress them. (Other brands also get hit, but Netgear is one of the biggest.) It does promise to unleash the lawyers when they are reported here, which is why we ask for people to provide the details.
For fun's sake, have you ever tried this one:
http://routerlogin.com/debug.htm
It is legit, honest.
I mention it partly because I have been trying to persuade someone else here that there is no such things as http://routerlogin.com/index.htm

Nope will not click on that, am still mad at myself for being careless. Beside I haven’t use netgear in a while, just tried to log into my spare one before possible giving it away. Let’s hope netgear do something about in the near future as I am planning to get a netgear when my current router needs to be replaced.
