Security Firmware update for R8000 Nighthawk

Question

I received an email this morning from NETGEAR emarketing@e.netgear.com saying I needed to do a firmware update on my Nighthawk R8000 running firmware V1.0.5.88_10.1.88 but after logging in and checking for updates it said there were no updates available. They gave me a link to download the update but it looked like it was for the R7000 router. The file name is R7000 V1.0.12.216. Has anybody tried updating their R8000 with this firmware and was the email a legitimate email from Netgear?

Actually, the answer is No.
&nbsp;
That's because local versions of firmware are rare. They usually apply to everyone everywhere.
&nbsp;
Those marketing emails go out from time to time and aren't usually related to a new firmware release. The clue is in the emarketing bit oi the the email address&nbsp; emarketing@e.netgear.com.
