Timing out

I have 2 work computers. One has to be connected via Ethernet and the other WiFi. It seems to time out on WiFi after a couple hours. How should the settings be to prevent this. I thought I had selected never in the settings and that would work but it is not. Please help

    What router do you have?
What modem/gateway is it connected to?

What firmware is on the router?
What do you mean by time out? What actually happens? What error do you get? "time out" doesn't tell us much

I disconnect from the WiFi after a couple hours and have to log back into my vpn. I am using an M6 nighthawk wireless mobile hotspot. My computer just says no internet so then I have to take the battery off my hotspot and reset it and sometimes do a factory reset because the status on the nighthawk states disconnected.

Those things are not like the average Nighthawk wifi router covered in this section. Mobile hotspots have very different settings,

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

        Mobile Routers, Hotspots & Modems

You might like to search there for messages related to your problem.

    Times out from what?

If this is a wifi adapter on a  Windows PC check that it is not set to put the USB port to sleep after a period of inactivity.

It is easy to blame the router for connection issues when the real culprit is something else on the network. First investigate other possibilities.

I am not set up as an admin so I cannot change that option.

Whoever is your admin, have them change that. If it can't be changed and thats whats causing it, that can be the issue
