When you use the AP mode of the router, it will disable features that are used in router mode, so you won't need to go through disabling features.
- you can decide whether you give the AP a static address or let the DHCP Server do it for you.
- Wireless channel settings need to be different on both R7000's
- SSID's can be the same, if your intent is to roam devices (some devices roam better than others).

If you have a modem only device from your ISP, one R7000 should be in router mode, and the other should be in AP mode (best solution - ethernet connection back to your base R7000 router). Powerline is hit or miss. You may have to move the powerline adapters around to test best connectivity. If you are in North America, channel 5 is a bad selection, as it is an overlapping channel and will cause additional grief for you, and, your neighbours. Don't leave 2.4ghz in auto (pick a non-overlapping channel (1,6,or 11)). make sure WMM is enabled on your router.
