As you will find if you support their user forums, where they exist, which isn't guaranteed as most makes are even worse than Netgear on that front.

Not mine. https://www.google.com/search?q=know+your+audience

You arranged this phone call how, exactly?
http://support.netgear.com/
or something else?> [...] unable to change the Network name [...]
On what? Look for "Model" on the product label. With which firmware
version? Connected to what?"the Network name"? Do you mean a wireless-network SSID, or
something on a Windows system, or what?"unable" is not a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

those might have been. But I'm beginning to see why you might not have gotten very far.
You might find some router-relevant information in a widely neglected
resource:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model
number, and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least).
Read. Look for a topic like "Specify Basic WiFi Settings"? Further
reading might not hurt, either.- michaelkenwardGuru - Experienced User

That doesn't make sense, perhaps whoever you talked to could not understand what you were trying to tell them.
If you called a telephone number that you found with a web search IT WASN'T NETGEAR. There are too many scam sites out there that try to look like Netgear but in reality are dodgy operations that can damage your network and your bank balance.
There is no phone support for Netgear. You do it via the support portal:
Contact Us | Support | NETGEAR
First you have to register your device to confirm that it is eligible for the 90-days free support. Start here:
MyNETGEAR | Product Registration
Start a case and, with luck, they will contact you.
After 90 days, Netgear does not provide paid support. It farms that out to GearHead.
Or you can try to sort it out here. That costs you nothing.
