Blocked Texts
Hello,
I recently noticed some of my texts are being blocked on my iphone but only when I am connected to the RS700 router.
I also use Netgear Armor on the router and downloaded app on the phone. I also run Nord VPN on my phone. I do not use the Netgear Armor VPN. I only use scam alert service and email account protection on the Armor app on my phone.
I tested turning off only the NordVPN but I still did not receive texts. Once I disconnected from the Wi-Fi on my phone, I get a slew of texts that I didn’t receive while I was connected. So I know it’s not the VPN.
And its only this home Wifi connection. Not at work.
Anyone know why? Or what to try? Thanks for any information and help.

What happens if you disable Armor?
I'm getting texts on my iphone 17 from my RS700. Trial Armor is enabled.
What phone platform do you have? Apple or Android?
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Using ISP detected DNS or Custom DNS?
Is IPv6 enabled on the router?
I forgot to mention its only happening to my phone on the network. Not my wife's. And it’s only just started happening to my phone in the last month maybe.
iPhone Apple 16 PMax. latest update for phone, router, and apps.
Armor on the phone is only monitoring scams setting. It is turned on through the NG router settings, but again itsISP auto detected. No PV6 enabled.
I am trying different phone settings. Like turning off rcs. And private wifi address. Idk. No clue why its an issue now.
i have read that the Protection Engine being on causes issues.

Try Armor disabled.
Try custom DNS.
PE can be disabled now I believe. Something to try disabled.
Yea. I disabled the PE, RCS texts, and Threat Protection. Not the custom DNS. I think that did it but kinda strange to have that issue when I didn’t before with everything turned on. Pricey router to have issues.

What Firmware version do you have on the RS router?

Any progress on this?
Yes. Apologies. Firmware is fully updated. I believe I am receiving all texts now. The issue i think was the Protection Engine setting. I have only tested turning on other things mentioned I had turned off and I am still receiving texts.
Turned back on:
Threat Protection
Netgear Armor aside from their VPN
I have not tried turning RCS back on yet.
Thanks again. If anything changes I will advise.
Firmware had always been fully updated prior to this issue also.
And I still have Private Wifi address turned off.
Still turned off:
PE
RCS texts
Private Wifi
Auto DNS
Turned on:
NordVPN
Threat Protection
All Netgear Armor w/o VPN on router and phone

So for my RS700:
Turned on:
Protection Engine
RCS default setting on phone.
Using Custom DNS.
Trial Armor Enabled
Still turned off:
Don't use Nord VPN
Don't use Armor on phone.
I'm getting texts with this configuration on my iphone 17.
Auto DNS on…. These posts need an edit option. Sheesh.

Just want to clarify - texts are working now that the protection engine is off? If so, you might want ot mark that as the solution.
Though obviously it isn't clear why FURRYe38 gets texts with the protection engine on.
Maybe also turn RCS back on.
Honestly, I would need to test further but what I listed above is working so I’m done trying to figure it at the moment. Could be either RCS, PE, or Private Wifi. Or whatever combo of each.
Furrye38 seems to have a different setup thats working for the same phone.I like NordVPN way better than Armor. So I will continue to use that on all my devices.
Seems to be just the crazy combo rechecking everything multiple times that kills texts for some reason. I blame Android phones. 🤣

I'd turn on RCS first. If that is ruled out, then set the Private Wi-FI address to fixed. If that also is ruled out, you could turn the PE back on.
Losing RCS does affect the user experience - lower resolution media, loss of read receipts. and loss ot typing indicators.
