I only get half speed for RS200 router

My phones and my tablet get full speed on my wifi which is rated from the ISP for 1.1G down and 300M up. My PC wired with CAT8 cable has only gotten as high as 650 from Ookla speed test and 570 with Xfinity speed test.

Modem CM3000 Hardware v1.01 firmware v5.01.02

Router RS200 firmware v1.0.1.74

I'm wired in to a 2.5G PCIe network adapter.

Windows 11 Pro

I uninstalled several apps and went to do another speedtest and BAM! full speed upstream and downstream! Don't know which app was causing the issue but I read on the internet about something called "Microsoft teams client" or something like that. I saw that in the list of apps and uninstalled it. I'm now getting the speed I paid for!

I also ran this script in cmd: "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal". I suppose I can't pinpoint what fixed the issue, I'm just glad everything is good now.

  • When wireless devices are getting full speed but not wired, it makes me curious what the wired device is running that could be causing issues. Reason why is wireless has overhead that usually slows things down. do you have a different wired device you can try?

  • I would have to take the PCIe adapter back and get something different as it's the only thing I have at the moment.

  • Just didn't know if you had another wired device you could test with (or borrow to test with).

Even a usb-c to ethernet adapter can be tried.

  • I just did an upgrade to the RS700s and have a TPlink 10Gig PCIe network adapter. Same result. Hard capped at around 570 on Xfinity speedtest and 650 on Ookla speedtest with higher speed on my mobile devices.

when 2 different devices perform the same, it makes me suspicious of what you're testing with. Especially since wifi hits faster speeds. got an older gigabit device sitting around you can test with versus the 10g adapter?

  • FYI there is a new FW version, v.90 for the RS200 out. Something to try and see if this helps any.

Glad you got it fixed! And that it was a simple issue related to the PC. I'd make a backup of that setup point on the PC as they're great at "updating drivers/apps" that can cause those issues to come back. I had a first gen 10g adapter that was a fight to keep running decent.

You might mark it solved so others know what fixed it and aren't still trying to fix it
