LAN Connection takes a long time

I have two Netgear Nighthawk rs700's, one as the main router and one as the Access Point upstairs at the other end of the house.  Yes it is in AP Mode and they are connected via ethernet for better backhaul.  The wifi works great on both devices and I have no issues there.  However, with LAN connection, it takes about 15 mins for the AP to process what ever it needs to and then support a connection.  Works great after that, I get my speeds and it does not drop once its up and running.  I have an ethernet cord going from the top 10G Lan port on my main router to the WAN port on my AP.  I have looked at every setting and even decided to do a full reset and start fresh and am having the same problem.  The only device that I can take downstairs and plug in to the main router via ethernet is my laptop and it just takes a quick minute or two to establish a connection and we are off and running.  All of the ports on the AP seem to "work" and show a connection when there is one. I recently had both of these devices replaced, main router was bricked and I couldnt even reset it and the ap had 2 ports randomly stop working.  I did buy 2 TP Link wifi 7 routers just to test and they both pop up and start working.

Yes, I did a bunch of testing and ultimately just cut a new cat6a cable and everything came back up with no issues. From main router 10G LAN to AP WAN. Something must have been wrong with that cable. Idk what could have happened to it. It’s looks just fine but obviously has a short or something wrong with it. I did set the static ip for the Ap but that’s just more so I can find it and sign in.

  • What FW version is loaded on the RS's?

What CAT# LAN cable are you using? CAT6A STP is recommended.

How is the RS in AP mode configured? Using Dynamic or Static IP address configuration?

Is Access Control or Armor enabled on the host RS in router mode?

Does the RS in AP mode work better if you connect it's WAN port to the bottom LAN Port on the host RS in router mode?

Does same problem happen if you bring the 2nd RS to same room as 1st RS in router mode to test?

      V1.0.7.86_2.0.82 on both.

CAT6A STP is what I ran, checked with different cable just to make sure but problem persists.

      set to dynamic

no Access Control or armor on either.

No, Just tested it.  I moved from the top LAN port down to Port 1 and then reset everything and I still get the same issue.

Yes, I have tried many different cables as well.

        SOLUTION FOUND!

special thanks to James Cornwatt who messaged me.  I was running from the Main 10G Lan port to my AP WAN port but he suggested I run it to the 10G LAN port on my AP and everything started working immediately!
