Nighthawk Rs200 - no WIFI after Reboot - Internet via LAN ok

Hi all

the problem is at a Nighthawk RS200 - The configuration iwth my provider here in Luxembourg worked fine. VLAN TAG - is used here for orange.lu

now.... some fine tuning has been done and i clicked the restart button in the router dashboard.

NO WLAN anymore. On the router itself - all LED s are correct in white and showing activity. But on the dashboard the WIFI have a red indicator. several restarts were unsuccessful. no WLAN anymore. even a switch on/off was not helpful. A complete reset and reconfiguartion of the RS200 solved the issue.

  • The problem seems to have been solved.

After a 2-hour phone call with the English-speaking support team, the problem disappeared (although this was probably a coincidence after a factory reset). The router probably assigned the IPs randomly so that there was no longer a conflict. As I have now been able to find out, it was most likely an IP conflict in the WLAN as both static and dynamic IPs are assigned in my network. However, the DHCP assignment referred to the entire address range. This most likely led to the said conflict - which then “deactivated” the WLAN - this also happened to me with competitor products. Furthermore, there was another 2 router in the network which was also configured as a router instead of an AP - but with DHCP..... switched off.

    Please close the case 48659368.

Try a factory reset from the RS web page:

    https://kb.netgear.com/24233/How-do-I-erase-the-configuration-settings-on-my-Nighthawk-router

See if the default wifi is seen and appears on a phone or pad.

Let us know if you don't see anything.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

The question is NOT the internet connection. this works fine. Also the accessibility to the router via LAN is excellent.

the problem is that after a reboot, the WIFI connection doesn't boot properly........and i cannot see the WIFI anymore.

      A restart and also a 30 30 30 restart doesn't provide remedy.

I've to do a factory reset in order to see the WIFI again.

The firmware seems to be buggy

Nobody is blaming the Internet connection, however we would like to know what the RS router IS connected too. Some ISP modems or ONTs already have a built in router and Wi-Fi. Helps us to know this. Why we ask as it can cause problems with external connected routers such as the RS.

If the 30-30-30 reset or normal reset doesn't work, then possible the RS unit was faulty from the beginning and needs to be replaced.

  • I'm getting the same issue on the RS200
Setup and used fine for a month, now after restart I can connect to internet fine through LAN cable, but wifi is not working. Tried many settings and no luck

      Hi  Jason

talked yesterday night 2 hrs to the support.

we did several tests.at the end the wifi worked after a reboot

but we don't know exactly why.....Questions:

0.1) Which Firmware do you use?

      1) do you have Wifi Extenders in use - which are directly connected to your RS200?

      2) If yes, are these Non-Netgear extenders?

      3) do you use DHCP?

      4) do you use DHCP and static addresses in the same range?

please let me know i might be able to help you

      Regards

      Fred
