RS700 issues

okay - I am no expert when it comes to networking but I’m also not a complete newbie. I have never had issues likely current rs700 related ones.

Setup info:

  1. access control is on
  2. i have separately named 2.4 and 5 WiFi networks (both broadcasting)
  3. When I do internet speed… it’s blazing fast - latest 1246down 37up

I do have an old r9000 attached to an Ethernet port but have disabled all WiFi on it and it is set to bridge mode. (I’m using the plex server trusts built into the r9000.)

Here’s the issue:

1) I log into the rs700 just fine

2) I can see that the r9000 has an up assigned and is allowed on network

3) I try to login to the r9000 but I get the screen shows that it’s blocked

4) I then go back to the rs700 but I can’t get in because  get err connection window

I then have to go power cycle the rs700 or wait a while for something to happen to let me login.

Also… most devices have a fixed Ip

There is a wireless bridge mode and AP mode on the R9000. Would the R9000 be in AP mode? It should be for your configuration. Not Wireless Bridge mode.

When setting a fixed IP address, Is this a IP address reservation on the RS router or is this a Static IP address configured on the R9000 router. Static IP address would be preferred on the R9000 router and this IP address should be outside of the RS routers IP address pool. So you would need to set a smaller IP address pool size on the RS router. Then if you set a static IP address of .1.9, this IP address should be reachable from any device on the network.

Typo?  i.e. "up" instead of "ip"?

Typically, the web management interface on Netgear routers can be accessed only from a device connected to the "LAN side" of the router. (either one of the Ethernet LAN ports or the WiFi network broadcast by the router.  Since this R9000 has the WiFi disabled, the only access will be from a device connected to an Ethernet port on the R9000.)

How were you attempting to connect to the R9000?
