If you want to provide quick access for a specific purpose, using HTTP or FTP might be a better option (port-forwarding through your router, and also getting a ddns URL). Though you would need to create a temporary account on the NAS for them to use (or create one or two accounts for temporary use, and change the passwords regularly).
