issue with folder and file sharing

I am trying to setup ReadyCLOUD so a user can access my NAS over the internet, I have tried to follow instructions and have done everything required but the user still cannot access the NAS completely. The user is registered through ReadyCLOUD and has been invited to the NAS, I have made sure they have Read/Write access to a folder but they can only upload files. Whatever they upload they cannot see and they cannot see or download anything In the folder. They can see the root folder that is being shared but nothing in it. When they upload their file I can see it on my end(as the administrator). I have tried restarting the device and it hasn't changed anything. I have tried all sorts of tests and I haven't gotten anywhere, although I noticed if I try to turn on any protocols other than SMB the root folder that is being shared becomes invisible to the user, so the only protocol activated is SMB and I have the cloud user checked off as having Read/Write permission, but now I am not sure what to do now, please advise, thank you.

  • Hello memihir,

The Everyone should be marked under File Access of the share's permission. This automatically adds the ReadyCloud user you allowed to access the share.

    Hello memihir,

I have few questions to ask, I've summarized them below:

    • May I ask what is the current firmware version of your NAS and what is the model number?
    • How does the user access the NAS via ReadyCloud? Is it through web URL or ReadyCloud app for smart phone/tablet or desktop client?
    • What is the version of the app or desktop client?
    • If the user is using an app or desktop client, has he tried uploading at least a small file when logged in to ReadyCloud portal?
    • Which share did you share with the user?
    • Can you post permission settings of this share?

    Welcome to the community!

    Regards,

  • Hi JennC

If I provide access to everyone than it would give access to everyone on local network too?

    Thanks for your help

      Hello memihir,

No it won't, just make sure you don't set it to Everyone under Network Access tab.
