ReadyCLOUD Login screwed up
I can't access my ReadyNAS files (won't let me sign in). My solution was to try to use the ReadyCloud (computer memorized my password) but it won't let me sign in either. I am beyond my 90 days so Ne...

Locally you can; i.e. from the same network. However remote access is down.
Using WinTen here I click on Networks and my NAS204 shows up. I click on it and all of my folders and files can be accessed.

Not if you are using home user groups. Mine have been deleted. fortunatly all the main data is still there. Looks like I might be rebuilding my backups. Hopefully I won't have lost too much.

But it won't let me log in locally either ~ that was what started this whole thing.

You should be able to see your nas on your network on your pc. Can you login to that as admin?
- SmallTownMar 30, 2017Guide
Nope, says the log in info is wrong. Now the ReadyCLOUD logged in but it says it's offline (which is probably why I can't log it). DANG I'm regretting getting this thing!

There has to be a local account you log in with. Even if ReadyCLOUD is disconnected from the NAS, the NAS always allow the local "admin" user to be used to log in locally. So maybe the password is different from your ReadyCLOUD, but admin should work (the default password being password).

Theres some variables that may be in play that will not allow you to access the NAS locally.
You will NOT use your ReadyNAS credentials to access the NAS on your local network.
If you have set up network sharing you do not need to login to the NAS, merley go to networking, and you should see the NAS as the friendly name that you gave it during installation as shown:
If you see the NAS and click on it you will see all of the folders you havecreated as shown:
At this point you can get to all of your files and folders...IF you have your NAS setup in a way that allows tthis.
Hope this helps.

Apparently I didn't set it up that way. I use the same log in info as for the cloud, which shows it as offline. I appreciate all the ideas. I think I'm pretty much screwed. ReadyCLOUD is back up but it's "offline" and I can't log on to it as an admin or locally so I'm probably going to have to give up pay tech support to hopefully get my informaiton back...should have just gotten a server and been done.

Maybe by performing an OS Reinstall via the Boot Menu, you'd be able to reset the local admin password to its default (password): https://kb.netgear.com/20898/ReadyNAS-ReadyDATA-Boot-Menu

the "WARNING: The factory default reboot process resets the unit to factory settings, erases all data, resets all defaults, and reformats the disk to X-RAID."
doesn't really work for me...Keeping the data is pretty much the most important thing to me
- jak0lantashMar 30, 2017Mentor
Which is why the suggested option was "OS Reinstall", NOT "Factory Default".

Hey jacolantish
do you thnk this would fix an issue i am having trying to log back in with the account i had before it all went down.
because my system thinks there is a user (ie. ME) with the same username well ofcourse there is i was that user and so it wont allow me to change it in the home folder and i cant delete the folder either.
I done an OS reinstall eariler when i was trying to figure out what was going on but it dident help was wondering if this would help now?

I don't think it would.
In the context, OS Reinstall was mentioned to reset the password of the local admin account, not for any other purpose.

When my login failed this afternoon I could see my old login was set as my email address. I eventually changed this to the registered user name on the nas and it allowed me in.
When you go into file explorer under network you should see your nas. Clicking on the nas should bring up it's own browser where you can log in as the admin. Once in you can check to see what user name you have.
This is of course making many assumptions that your system runs in a similar way to mine!
