I think the better questions would be asked like this, but you are right:
How real is the possibility that my NAS has lost all the data on the drives, and I'll have to buy a new non Netgear system.
That is their basic function, storing and protecting data. If they can't do that, I have no use for thier products. We'll see.

twgriffiths Your data is safe. as I have mentioned in prevouse posts you should be able to login to your NAS using the IP address and login uinsg Admin and the passowrd you have set or use the default password. Youl would than be able to look at your volums and see that your data is there and you can setup local accounts under the account tab and use that local account to map a network drive in windows

I was finally able to log into readycloud. Far as I can tell we lost the readycloud users and their home folders. I don't even have an empty home folder for my main readycloud user after I turned the service back on.

My NAS is at a remote location. How do I re-connect? ReadyCloud disconnected everyone, then came back on line but seems my remote server is off and will not come back up. How do I turn it back on from my remote lcation?

I'm getting the same message, but my NAS is definately on! I think ReadyNas thingy is coming back in stages. I'm sure yur NAS is on, just wait a bit for Netgear.

It looks like ReadyCloud is back and running you will have to re-add each of your device to the cloud and re-add each user and assign permissions
I am lucky I have when I setup my clients system forwared external Ports on the firewall to the devices so I can remote login to each system through the port forwards to the admin web page of the nas.

My NAS is 200 miles away! I have to go there and restart cloud services? Okay Netgear, you just lost a client. I am going to replace the servers with something I can connect to directly. Timeafter time I have been patient with all the screw ups in new software releases, now they are having screwups unrelated to anything. This is rediculous!

The easiest way I can think of would be to ask someone on the local network to give you access to a PC, like via TeamViewer, LogMeIn or equivalent. So you can access the local admin page and do what's necessary from there.

But any data under the home directories has gone as they have been deleted :-(

Not deleted. I still have access to my Plex Server running on the NAS. It's running fine. This is a login issue and visibility issue.
Patience.
All will return to normal.

Was the plex server running under a cloud user ? and did it have a home directory ?
if so please tell me how you managed to get the user directory back

PLEX is running as an App. But my library is playing and all available.
What I want to understand is why my network login is tied to cloud access. What is that about? Can that be? If I wasn't connected to the Internet would I still have access to my files?
Currently I can log into ReadyCloud. This is progress from this morning.
ReadyCloud Reports my NAS is offline.
I cannot login to the Admin.
I don't think any amount of cursing will help, though I have a few choice for Netgear.
I also don't think trying to force a rebuild or reboot is going to be profitable.
