If I can get this to work, then #3 is irrelevant, because I have a separate syncing tool I used to use with ReadyNAS Remote that would let me tunnel in as if I was local and sync 10 ways from Sunday.
I have solved this by opening up port 6300 and forwarding it to the IP of the NAS.
Cloud>ReadyNAS Remote>Settings>Security (you should also have an option to change the port)
