Many thanks
iCloud was a transcript error/ it should have read ReadyCLOUD.
Yes:
Using SMB directly works fine, thanks.
However what do you suggest for a remote connection....
Using a DNS?
and trying to connect remotely that way rather then using the ReadyCLOUD app, which won’t work for large files.
Thanks

Personally I use openVPN (which is supported by my Orbi router). That gives me full access to my home network when I'm away.
It does require DDNS (which is also built in to the router).
ZeroTier is another free VPN option - there is an app available for it at apps.readynas.com, and free apps available for iOS and Android.
Yet another approach is to use Resilio Sync. I haven't tried to run that on the NAS, instead I run it on a PC (which I use generally as an application server). But there is an app for that also. I find the selective sync on the mobile device to be convenient, and it does a good job of backing up my photos and videos. I haven't tried it on 38 GB files though.

I’ll look into them.
I found out the reason why large files sometimes won’t play, is the cache size in ReadyCLOUD.
It apparently doesn’t like to access large files, if the chache setting aren’t big enough.
Setting them at maximum doesn’t help Either apparently, as it’s not large enough to handle streaming of big files.
I’ll look into the various options you’ve suggested.
Many thanks for making the effort to help on a weekend !
