After getting back into the BOOT FLASH, I found that the VPD file was missing. So I copied it back over from my USB backup and now it is looking "normal" again.

Hmmm. I wonder if that means that Netgear did away with the requirement for a valid VPD in legacy units running OS6 or that you just got lucky. I know people with corrupt VPDs have had issues with 6.10.9 and 6.10.10, but maybe the solution now is just to delete it (and put up with that oddity).
