Anyone else having problems with SABnzbd for OS6

My NAS is Pro 6 with OS6 ~ v6.0.6.

This is an FYI.

I've installed SABnzbd several times, but each time I have rebooted after installing and activating this add-on, I cannot long into Dashboard.
After each issue, I restart with Factory Default.

This is my sequence:
apt-get install pythonr6 phpr6 mysqlr6 phpmyadminr6
reboot
apt-get install sabnzbd
reboot

I've even installed SABnzbd directly using the tar and git versions (not the r6 add-on) with the same result.
I can log in as root through the attached USB keyboard and VGA monitor.
cat /var/log/apache2/error.log shows:
...
exec of '/usr/sbin/pwauth' failed: (13) Permission denied
...

To fix this, I executed the following to make the permissions match the other pw* files:
chmod +x /usr/sbin/pwauth
chmod o+r /usr/sbin/pwauth
passwd admin
/etc/init.d/apache2 restart

As a result, /var/log/apache2/error.log no longer records a "... (13) Permission denied" error, but Dashboard still denies the admin login.

Now, cat /var/log/frontview/error.log shows:
...
... user admin: authentication failure for "/admin/": Password Mismatch
...

I found a web discussion which states that there is a bug in htpasswd for httpd-2.4.4.
With these recommendations:
1 supply the password on the command line (e.g. "htpasswd -nb user password");
2 use the version of htpasswd out of httpd-2.4.3;
3 use Digest Authentication instead of Basic Authentication (htdigest isn't affected);
4 wait until httpd-2.4.5 is released;
5 apply the patch in the bug report (which seems to work) and rebuild htpasswd from source.
the patch is here https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show ... i?id=54735

Not sure if OS6.0.6 is using httpd-2.4.4, but wondered if anyone else is having a similar problem.
THx

  • Thanks,

    Based on the symptoms, do you have any idea what's happening between SABnzbd, apache, and the admin user profile/password?

    Did you get prompted to accept updating any other packages when you updated those add-ons via apt-get?
  • I'm sure there were support packages, but I didn't write them down. Not sure other packages are to blame because the same thing happens using the git and tar versions of SABnzbd.
  • Hey OP, you may want to look over here: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=71803
  • I'm having a similar problem to Matty. Frontview keeps dying all the time and says that the device is offline, but SABnzbd is installed and running - perhaps related. Not sure what the solution is.
