Zoneminder is free and isn't working because the netgear has the Arcus to sell.
ASUSTOR I'm sorry.

You know, you may be right about that! But I'm sure ZoneMinder could be made to work just fine once again with a little effort. Then again, you get it working, and then a new Update screws it up once again.

The ReadyNas firmware updates revises the OS included packages. When trying to install Zoneminder NT, the systemd-journal.log reports the following error: "The following packages have unmet dependencies: nastools-zoneminder : Depends: libjpeg8 (>= 8c) but it is not going to be installed", and then aborts the installation. The loaded OS has libjpeg62-turbo package already and therefore doesn't allow the libjpeg8 package to be installed that Zoneminder requires for this build. There maybe other dependencies that Zoneminder requires that are incompatible with the installed Readynas OS. A new Zoneminder build is required for ReadyNas firmware 6.8.0 OS.

In ReadyNAS OS 6.8, the ReadyNAS apt repository defaults libjpeg8 to a previous version which is inline with upstream Debian 8.
I have chatted with NAStools offline but he has a new job and has had no time to work on updating his apps :( but he invites anyone in the meantime to fork his app via GitHub and make appropriate changes.
