Cannot activate Antivirus

Well, that would explain it. But I can always use ZoneAlarm and check the NAS over the Local Network, takes a long time, though.

What ReadyNAS model do you have, and what firmware are you running on it?

It's a ReadyNAS 104 with the latest firmware (6.10.4).

I believe Netgear removed the Anti-virus service from the RN100 series NAS, due to them being too underpowered to run it properly. I think this was done since the 6.10.x firmwares.

If all computers that have write access to the NAS have active protection, it is unlikely that an infected file will end up on it. As an additional safeguard, don't leave an open connection to the NAS when not in use.
