Encryption and samba

Hi.

I'm evaluating encfs and truecrypt on my box. (pro pioneer)
Both performs quite good, but both also share an issue:

When using windows to upload files to an encrypted samba share, the session times out on big files.

[2012/03/05 12:32:44.136281, 0] lib/util_sock.c:1441(get_peer_addr_internal)
getpeername failed. Error was Transport endpoint is not connected
write_data: write failure in writing to client 0.0.0.0. Error Broken pipe
[2012/03/05 12:32:44.136312, 0] smbd/process.c:79(srv_send_smb)
Error writing 53 bytes to client. -1. (Transport endpoint is not connected)
[2012/03/05 12:52:17.789912, 0] smbd/nttrans.c:2271(call_nt_transact_ioctl)
call_nt_transact_ioctl(0x1401c4): Currently not implemented.

Uploading the same file to an unencrypted share works fine.
Also moving the file using ssh works good as well.
Downloading the same file, that had issues with upload - works perfectly.

So, my question is: do you have any suggestions of how to make the samba session a bit more sturdy?
I've tried a few samba-settings on the box, but without any luck.

Files up to 2GB seems to work fine.

  • Maybe you're hitting some 32bit limit there? 2GB quite sounds like that.
