Integration with Readynas Vault
Hi
Is there any plans to integrate this with readynas Vault?
I have a folder called pictures (with subfolders location etc) - this automatically backs up to the vault weekly.
I'd like to be able to pull the source from the vault instead of having to reupload them from my readynas (ineffect twice) - this should in turn determine the actual source folder on the nas, so if you upload pics directly to Photos II, they also transfer down to the NAS and evetually back to the vault (full circle)
This would be sweet

- vaultservicesAspirantHi. My name is Aaron. I work for Vault Services, makers of the ReadyNAS vault.
Can you please clarify a little bit on this sentence:
"I'd like to be able to pull the source from the vault instead of having to reupload them from my readynas (ineffect twice) - this should in turn determine the actual source folder on the nas" What do you mean exactly?
Are you interested in a "sync" feature where files uploaded to his ReadyNAS Vault account are synced backed to his NAS?
Thanks,
Aaron - chirpaLuminarySince this post in in the Photos2 sub-forum, sounds like he wants Photos/Vault working together, so he doesn't waste 2x the space to back files up. More like having a symlink between Photos2 and Vault.
- fish1AspirantDepending on how Photos II is architected, there may be a simple workaround to connect them.
Does any one know what path Photos II uses to store the files? Photos II experts - let us know please!
If so, all the user needs to do is add a backup job with this path as the root. Then they can use the Photos II add-on and the contents will all get backed up.
Also, if the path is consistent, the Vault team can pre-create a backup job (disabled by default) that covers the path. That way, all new users can just enable the job to get it going. - chirpaLuminaryI believe it is /c/.RNP2/
- fish1AspirantThanks Chirpa -- you saved me some poking around. I'll check it out and re-post here when I have an update...
- devilsrearAspirantThanks for the responses.
Basically I'd like to access photos II but instead of having to upload the pics into is - pick up the ones I have already synced up to the vault.
If only to save bandwidth.
Ideally if you could do it so that any pics you load into photos 2 also sync across to the nas then to the vault then this would be spectacular - vaultservicesAspirantHi there,
I went ahead and created a tutorial on how to backup your Photos II files to the Vault. Here that is: https://readynasvault.zendesk.com/entri ... -the-vault
Let me know if you have any further questions,
Aaron - fish1AspirantI think Aaron's post (see above) should do the trick for @devilsrear .
Be advised - the tutorial he posted has two important pieces (both what to include and what to exclude - you probably don't want/need to back up the application logs, which are constantly updating and changing).
Curious to see how it goes for you... - devilsrearAspirantHi
Thanks for the responses - brilliant exactly what I'm after
