ncurses-dev broken?

Hi,
I am trying to install development packages for ncurses as they are a dependency for multiple of my tools, however, I am getting following message:

Commands used:

apt-get install libncurses5-dev
...
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libncurses5-dev: Depends: ncurses-bin (= 5.7+20100313-5) but 5.5-5 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

I am using ReadyNAS Ultra 2 with the latest firmware. I did run apt-get update before.

    I have a Readynas Ultra 2
I get the same error message,

    ReadyNAS:/c/devel/linux-2.6.37.6# apt-get install libncurses5-dev
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
    that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
    libncurses5-dev: Depends: ncurses-bin (= 5.7+20100313-5) but 5.5-5 is to be installed

Im following this guide http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=33132 , to install PPTP client.
    But i cant run
    make menuconfig
    due to that package.
Or so it seems, I get this message when i try to run it
    ReadyNAS:/c/devel/linux-2.6.37.6# make menuconfig
*** Unable to find the ncurses libraries or the
    *** required header files.
*** 'make menuconfig' requires the ncurses libraries.
    ***
*** Install ncurses (ncurses-devel) and try again.
    ***
    make[1]: *** [scripts/kconfig/dochecklxdialog] Error 1
    make: *** [menuconfig] Error 2
  • I updated the /etc/apt/sources.list file
    and added
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free
    deb http://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US stable/non-US main contrib non-free
    deb http://security.debian.org stable/updates main contrib non-free

after that I was able to install the ncurses package
