- chirpaLuminaryI compiled some kernel drives four years back for a few items. The steps are different now, but you may find some hints in my posts to help along the way:
viewtopic.php?f=35&t=29874 - christerj77AspirantThe problem is that i have no idea how to compile the kernel drivers, i have downloaded the x64 version from this page http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm and tried to compile it as root but i have no idea if im even close to doing it the right way but here is the output from "make"
root@nas-27-0D-A0:~/ftdi_sio# make
gcc -Wall -D__KERNEL__ -DMODULE -I/lib/modules/3.0.74.RNx86_64.2.1/build/include -I/usr/src/linux-3.0.74.RNx86_64.2.1/drivers/usb/serial/ -O -c -o ftdi_sio.o ftdi_sio.c
ftdi_sio.c:253:24: fatal error: linux/init.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
make: *** [ftdi_sio.o] Error 1chirpa wrote: I compiled some kernel drives four years back for a few items. The steps are different now, but you may find some hints in my posts to help along the way:
http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=29874 - chirpaLuminaryYou need the linux kernel headers from the GPL package, and drop them in /usr/src/linux.
Maybe someone else on here can chip in. I don't use ReadyNAS systems myself anymore to have tried this recently. - christerj77AspirantI guess i need the headers for the kernel that is used on OS6 then, do you know where can i download those files?
Thanks for trying to help me.chirpa wrote: You need the linux kernel headers from the GPL package, and drop them in /usr/src/linux.

They haven't posted v6.0.5 GPL yet. - christerj77AspirantI guess i will have to give up this, cant understand how to compile it.
- chirpaLuminaryIf you can give me SSH to the box, I can poke around at getting it working.
- christerj77AspirantI have sent you an pm with login details and ip.
Thank youchirpa wrote: If you can give me SSH to the box, I can poke around at getting it working. - chirpaLuminaryThanks, got it. I'll try to take a look in between other stuff. Starting right now by downloading the GPL packages to it.
