Netgear Surveillance will not install

Hi all,

I have attempted to install the new surveillance add on and the error 'bad architecture' occurs.

System is Ready Nas NV+ V2 with firmware 5.3.5.

Any ideas or suggestions?

  • I have doubts that Surveillance will be released for ReadyNAS ARM units.

I agree. Any add-on for ARM would likely need to be a 3rd party one.
  • I will continue to be on the lookout for similar software for you, though.
  • Bump..

Just a follow up... Is it possible to install something like Zoneminder on the readynas (not an addon), and use it on it's own port through the web UI?

Also, just sharing my frustration that there is no add-on yet for ARM
  • I happen to have been using ZoneMinder for a long time on a standalone Linux box and actually replaced that with the ReadyNAS surveillance solution. I did do my research before buying and purchased an Ultra that supported the Surveillance add-on. I then proceeded to install the SSH add-on to the ReadyNAS so I can SSH to the ReadyNAS and then I am again on a Linux box. My ZM Linux box also did DDNS updates for me so I thought I would try to get that working on the ReadyNAS so I could shut down the ZM box. Based on what it took to get the very simple DDNS perl script working, I would think that getting ZM to work on the the ReadyNAS would be difficult and not for the faint of heart. ZM requires MANY dependencies of which I can pretty much assure you that you either wont find them for your architecture or they will be difficult to find/get/install. I have been around the Linux block for a long time and I would not even attempt it mostly for fear of bricking the NAS. Installing all the stuff it would take to get ZM to work might also break the NAS which would be a bad thing.

Keep in mind, NetGEAR clearly states if you install the SSH add-on, you void any and all support for your product.

If you do get ZM working, it would be nice of you to post your process here for others to use. The nice thing about ZM is there is no "supported" camera list. You have the flexibility to use just about any camera out there that supports the standard streaming protocols. My cams are not on the supported list but with some tweaking, I was able to get them to work.
  • Hi Guys.

Any news on the ARM version of Surveillance please?

    Thanks

  • Guys, I realise that some time has passed since the last post, but surely by now there is a definitive answer as to if/when the ARM devices will get the Surveillance add-on? Or maybe someone knows of an alternative?

    Any response appreciated.

    Regards

I don't work for Netgear and have no inside knowledge. But when I look into my crystal ball, I don't see any more feature development for the v2 platforms.

I don't use this tech, so I'm not in a position to recommend alternatives.

I don't think the v2 will get Surveillance. Surveillance is available for all our new products which run ReadyNAS OS 6.
