Surveillance download and install problem RN31211D Firmware 6.4.2

Before I ask my questions on my installation issues, I saw this thread and have a related question:

http://community.netgear.com/t5/Current-NETGEAR-and-Partners/Unable-to-install-Surveillance/m-p/1045940#M4518

Am I understanging this thread correctly, that Surveillance can't be installed or maybe can't be activated at this time because of the vulnerability issue?

---------------------

Here is my question with regard to installing Surveillance on my 312 boxes (I have 2 boxes)  RN31211D Firmware 6.4.2.

The manual (link below) on p8 states that for OS 6 navigate to Apps then Installed Apps. When I do that there are no installed apps listed. http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RNNVR01L-1000S/Surveillance_UM_31March14.pdf

So then I searched the community posts and found the thread -- first link in this post above. That thread conatains this link:

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/30275

which contains a link for this Surveillance download package:

http://apt.readynas.com/packages/readynasos/dists/apps/pool/s/surveillance/surveillance_1.4.1-3_amd64.deb

I downloaded the package to my PC, then ran the app upload function (Upload icon on the RN312 Apps page) and got the error message "Cannot install application C:/.../surveillance_1.4.1-3_amd64.deb"

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Or can anyone offer another way to get Surveillance installed?

Thanks

  • The problem was IE 11 on Windows 8.1. I logged on the the box with Chrome and was able to up-load the app (which did not work with IE 11). However, prior to up-loading the app it was not on the installed apps page as the manual states.

      Bitbanger76251,

I'm glad that you were able to resolve the issue. The app has been removed from the "Available apps" while we work on the vulnerability. I downloaded and installed the app on a 316 to test. It seems to take a moment but the app eventually shows under "Installed apps".
