PS3 Media Server for ReadyNAS PRO
I have made addon PMS for readynas pro. it support transcoding in realtime (mkv can play at PS3).
Addon include java, mplayer, mencoder, ffmpeg, tsmuxer and PMS. If anybody want to test it - download link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/300889849/PMSforReadyNAS_1.1.bin.html
MD5: BFFA401DB01BDD66EDAB1102836AD094
Transcoding is very slow... and size of addon very big. I have no time to correct it and finish the project, but if anybody want to finish - this link to source code of addon:

- igor_dulatovAspirantNew version released!
changes:
1. Separated 3 packages: Mplayer (contain mplayer, mencoder, ffmpeg, tsmuxer) - need only for support transcoding, Java (jre 1.6.0_22) and PS3 Media server.
2. New PS3 Media server version 1.20.412
Mplayer
contain mplayer, mencoder, ffmpeg and codecs - all compiled at ReadyNas, and tsmuxer
you need install if want transcoding support by PMS
JRE4ReadyNas
Installs Java to ReadyNas. and save in /etc/default/services two env.:
JRE4READYNAS_JAVA_HOME - home directory for java
JRE4READYNAS_JAVA_VER - version number of java
if you want to lunch java programs do this
. /etc/default/services #read env.
$JRE4READYNAS_JAVA_HOME/bin/java program.jar # start java program
Must be installed for PMS working
PS3MediaServer
add default language support (it write in pms.conf parameters "language" and "mencoder_audiolang")
ru - russian, en - english and others...
If video file contain dif.languages PMS select lang.for playing from it parameter
All packages install in /c/addons-config (network address \\nasservername\addons-config)
I think 3 packages is better for using and updating
download:
Java http://depositfiles.com/files/abvzfe4uh
PMS http://depositfiles.com/files/e19w4dzdn
Mplayer http://depositfiles.com/files/zcteyrxps
Before install i recommend to remove previous version
P.S. If somebody find web configurator for PS3 Media Server - tell me and i include it in next package - TurbineAspirantThats great, igor! Now also the chapter support is working :D And the installation is quite simple.
THANKS! - sdouekGuideLurking around this subject for a while very interested, thank you igor for you work. Just one question when installing the add ons is there a particular order to installing them. i.e.
1st Java
2nd PMS
3rd Mplayer - igor_dulatovAspirantorder to installing is
1st Java
2nd Mplayer
3rd PMS
or
1st Java
2nd PMS
If after tests you want transcoding
3rd Mplayer
and restart PMS server - sdouekGuideDo you recommend staying on 4.2.13 or upgrading to 4.2.15 first.
Thank you, I will implement on my PRO as soon as I finish backing up my critical data. - igor_dulatovAspirantI tried on both versions - all was ok. (i upgraded to .15 with already installed PMS, but i think it does not matter)
- dIGIMAN1AspirantInstallation was successfull but what every i enter as Media Homedir,
PMS always leads me to the root directory of the NAS
Then manually navigating to the media files also fails for me.
What am i doing wrong?

Ok, just found out i had to change the read access to everyone... - vs355AspirantSorry for the simple question, but by running the ps3ms on a readynas pro - will this allow me to run iso's from the nas to the ps3? (eliminating the need for my main computer to be on)
I have been trying to find a nas solution that will allow me to do this, therefore havent purchased a nas as yet.
Thanks - kylenAspirant

If I have an iso file in my dir, I don't even see it listed on the PS3 media server on the PS3, so I guess the answer to your question is probably NO.
UPDATE: Looks like my ISO may have been buried too many dirs deep. When I moved my ISOs up a few subdirs, I can now see and access them via PMS.
I have noticed this in other areas of PMS--sometimes the nested subdirs get too deep and either don't let me see the files or not let me access the TRANSCODE subdir to do the transcoding when I need to. - TomB1AspirantHi, I'm really glad there is an effort to get Playstation Media Server on the ReadyNas. Good work :)
Would an Ultra 4 be capable of trancoding HD mkv, or would I need an Ultra 4 plus which is dual core?
