ReadyDrop
Hello Guys & Dolls!
Questions regarding ReadyDROP Folders...that is if ReadyDROP even applies to my RN204!
1) Does this folder esentually act like the free Cloud storage offerings; Google Drive, One Drive, Dropbox, etc.?
2) If I place files in the ReadyDROP folder will they automatically sync with my RN204 without human intervention?
3) What folder on my RN204 will the files from my ReadyDROP folder be placed?
4) I have files I have MOVED to my RN204 manually, when I initiate a Sync will these files be copied back to my PC?
5) If I DELETE the files from my ReadyDROP folder AFTER they have been copied over to my RN204, will they also be deleted frrom my RN204?
Regards!
Hi GPSIS_HQ,
Thank you for posting this thread. ReadyDROP has been replaced by ReadyCLOUD Backup PC Folder when OS 6.2.0 was officially released. See this page for more information about this feature.
Hope this answers your question.

Dear GPSIS_HQ
What firmware version are you running? I do not believe ReadyDROP is still active. It went away as part of the OS 6.5 upgrade and now is referred to as ReadySync. I use a Mac but I believe the functionality is the same in the PC world. Regarding your questions:
1) Does this folder esentually act like the free Cloud storage offerings; Google Drive, One Drive, Dropbox, etc.?
With ReadySync, you sync. a folder on the ReadyNAS to your PC and that folder will stay in sync with the corresponding folder on the ReadyNAS. If you add or delete folders in the PC folder, they will automatically be synced to the ReadyNAS folder. Add or delete files on the ReadyNAS and they will be synced to the PC.
2) If I place files in the ReadyDROP folder will they automatically sync with my RN204 without human intervention?
Yes
3) What folder on my RN204 will the files from my ReadyDROP folder be placed?
You select the folder on the ReadyNAS that you want to syn to your PC. I created a Share on my RN202 called Sync and that is what I share with my Mac. You should be aware that there is a known issue with the current ReadyCloud Desktop Client (at least in the Mac version) which prevents you from seeing folders in your private Home share so I set up a Share called Sync and restricted it to my own ReadyCloud User ID so it acts as a private folder.
4) I have files I have MOVED to my RN204 manually, when I initiate a Sync will these files be copied back to my PC?
If you select that folder to be your Sync folder, they should copy over to the PC.
5) If I DELETE the files from my ReadyDROP folder AFTER they have been copied over to my RN204, will they also be deleted frrom my RN204?
Yes. The two folders always stay in sync so if you add or delete to one, the same action will occur on the other end.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
David
- GPSIS_HQGuideDavid thx for the info...It helps a lot.
I asked about ReadyDROP because I found a folder on my laptop by that name. When I Googled it that's when the questions came up.
If it's true it is no loger supported that's ok as long as there is a replacement.
Thx again!
