The goal was to have rsnapshot running and doing something....actually the addon doesn't produce anything...
I have just done another test on my real NAS and from the putty shell I obtained what I want to be done ( in this particular case the copy of the etc folder ).I used the following command line :
rsync -zvr /etc/ /snapshot/etc
The final goal is to do the same but to have my desktop PC as the destination folder ( I'm doing this step by step....unfortunately I'm far away from being a Linux user and secondly because I first try what can be consider easier ). At the end I want rsnapshot to backup specific files so in case of a disaster on my NAS ( and not being able to boot....), I would have a copy of configuration files (php, addons' config files,....).
I apologize if all this messy, but please consider me a Linux noobie AND IN ANY CASE, I APPRECIATE A LOT THE HELP AND EXPLANATIONS RECEIVED IN THIS FORUM BY YOU AND ALL THE PEOPLE WHO DEDICATE SOME TIME TO THE NON-EXPERT.
Executing : rsnapshot -t hourly I get this :
rsnapshot encountered an error ! The program was invoked with these options:
/usr/local/bin/rsnapshot -t hourly
ERROR: /user/local/etc/rsnapshot.conf on line 72:
ERROR: cmd_rsnapshot_diff /usr/local/bin/rsnapshot-diff
