sharing albums
I have setup the plugin and have one album that I am trying to share with others. I type in the user's email address, and don't see the mail being delivered. I am testing this on myself so I can monitor the smtp activity. I do not see anything at all listed. Is there someplace I need to configure smtp servers? As an aside, I have no issue sending alerts from the ReadyNAS - I have an Ultra 6.
Thanks.
Thanks.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredHave you checked your Spam/Junk Mail folder?
- nicholas1AspirantYes - as a matter of fact, I am monitoring at a debug level the smtp log on my email server and see no sign of an attempt at sending an email at all. Are there settings independent of the netgear alerts that need to be set?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI just did an experiment and it seems the email is being sent from the NAS like Frontview alerts. Under System > Alerts > Contacts in Frontview have you configured the SMTP settings? My ReadyNAS is configured to send email alerts using gmail and alerts work fine.
I've written up some instructions here: Using Gmail with the ReadyNAS - nicholas1AspirantAppreciate the testing. I have no problem at all sending alerts and I've tried to smtp servers - the first is my own internal and the second is with Optimum Online. Both are working fine from alerts. I also just tried setting up with gmail and the alerts worked perfectly from there as well.
With each I tried to share with multiple contacts - one hosted at Optimum Online and the other is my internal domain that works great with all other email. I see nothing coming in. Is there some way to turn up debugging on the netgear to see what is really going on?
Thanks. - nicholas1AspirantAs a follow-up: I rebooted my ReadyNAS and I got an onslaught of emails from all prior attempts. So perhaps some mailing process that got hung up. Seems to be working well now.
- adb1AspirantDid you see yoh-dah's post here http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=145&t=54236 where he says that the email is sent from photos.readnas.com
Does that tally with what you have seen when looking at SMTP logs? - claykinAspirant

I had the exact same issue on a U2Plus with PhotosII and 4.2.17. In my testing users were not getting emails when invited to view albums. A simple reboot of the NAS caused all emails to go out. Seems like a bug since now more than one of us has experienced this. - mkeesmaatAspirantSame here... firmware 4.2.18
Persons who has a invite earlier for a shared album (like the postcard) don't have a login.
I also added the persons in the contacts list. Do they get automaticaly a email with login credentials?
How do they login?
How do you get private guest access?
This isn't clear to me.
Is there somewhere a (pdf) manual? - yoh-dahGuide

Adding email in the contact list is just for convenience so you can send out invitation w/o re-entering the email, as well as when your guest visit your Photos II site, they'll get greeted by their first name. You need to send out invitation to allow your contact to have access to your album, or put them in the Album Options/Preferences/Shared list if you don't want to explicitly send out the invitations. - Trial_MasterAspirantI send an invite out and tested as a private guest i now have access to make comments etc... Question though do i have to use that url in the invite every time? I note that under 'Album Options/Preferences/Shared list' the name and email i created is listed there but by turning up as a public guest i don't appear to be able to identify myself as the private guest. Am i doing this all wrong as it seems a bit complicated?
It would be nice to allow a guest to have sign in rights to make comments across all albums
