Tried a few things on the original 31 photos from the above test
Test 1
1. Created new album
2. Select Browse
3. Photos sorted by filename.
4. Mark first, Mark to last (file names shown in random order in filename box)
5. Press Open
6. Files shown in Photos Uploader window in file name order (which also implies Exif date and file date)
Press Upload
Result: All photos in correct order
Test 2
1. Changed PICT0021 to be file date 2000/01/02-12:00
2. Changed PICT0022 to be file date 2000/01/02-11:50
3. Changed PICT0002 to be file date 2010/01/01-13:00
4. Created new album
5. Select Browse
6. Photos sorted by filename.
7. Mark first, Mark to last (file names shown in random order in filename box)
8. Press Open
9. Files shown in Photos Uploader window in file name order (which also implies Exif date, but not file date)
Press Upload
Result: All photos in correct order
Test 3
1. Using same date changed files as in test 2
2. Created new album
3. Select Browse
4. Photos sorted by date, oldest first
5. Mark first, Mark to last (file names shown in random order in filename box)
6. Press Open
7. Files shown in Photos Uploader window in file DATE order
Press Upload
Result: All photos in FILE DATE order.
So, it seems the upload using making a fixed sort order based on file date in this case and as a general rule is using the sort order from the file selection box.
This seems to be a very odd way to do things. Why does it not use Exif by default rather than file date. It's much easier to muck up a file date than the Exif date. I don't know about you, but over the last 14 years, I have digital images that have travelled and been copied many times through various file and operating systems. My file dates are not all perfect!
Secondly the sort order should be something that can be changed at the album view time, in addition it must be possible to reorder individual photos in the album view order once the album is complete.
