Ultra 2, Smargo+, CCcam - A success story - Package

Hello Everyone,

I just got my hands on a Ultra 2 couple of days ago and started playing around with it.
This is my first post on the board and I happy to start my history here with something that would help some other fellas.

Long story short:
CCcam 2.2.1 with Smargo USB Reader is working perfectly on Ultra 2!

No time now for a detailed step by step instruction but perhaps with the help of someone knowledgeable in that area we could build a package to install via addon manager.

Assumptions: Running RAIDiator _V4.2.19

Basically what i've done is:

Compiled usbserial.ko and ftdi_sio.ko from RAIDiator-x86_V4.2.19_WW_src for kernel 2.6.37.6.RNx86_64.2.1
Roughly the steps are the followings:

wget RAIDiator-x86_V4.2.19_WW_src.zip from the file from the repository
unzip RAIDiator-x86_V4.2.19_WW_src.zip
cd linux-2.6.37.6
cp arch/x86/configs/deconfig.smp .config
make menuconfig
- Enable both usb serial and ftdi_sio modules
make CONFIG_DEBUG_SECTION_MISMATCH=y

Now you have the modules, install them in the right directory and you'll see /dev/ttyUSB0 appearing when you plug the smargo+ reader.

STEP 1 DONE!!

Now let's move on CCcam. CCcam has been built with a newer version of glibc so it does not run straight away from the command line.
To solve this I had to compile a newer version of libstdc++.so.6 (in my case I used libstdc++.so.6.0.13). Placed the lib in /usr/lib/ and symlinked it to libstdc++.so.6.

STEP 2 DONE!!

Guess what? Everything working smoothly provided you have the right CCcam.cfg and everything else that is not in the scope of this post.

Anybody willing to join forces and help me build a package?

See ya all.

  • Hello Mate

I compiled the kernel as described. At the end I did

    nas-8B-02-EA:/c/home/src/linux-2.6.37.6# make modules_install
    INSTALL drivers/scsi/scsi_wait_scan.ko
    INSTALL drivers/target/lio-target/iscsi_target_mod.ko
    INSTALL drivers/target/target_core_file.ko
    INSTALL drivers/target/target_core_mod.ko
    DEPMOD 2.6.37.6.RNx86_64.2.1

But theres no ftdi module being isntalled. How do i continue?

    regards
  • Ok, Got it!

Was so dumb, I did not compile the drivers as modules from the kernel. Further I did not have to recompile a newer verion of libstdc++ since i had already ...6.0.13 installed on my nas :)

    Thanks for your howto mate!
  • @zgstar
Great job! Were you able to create an add-on? There is a manual available: http://www.readynas.com/?p=346

I would be of little help as I'm not a programmer. Would love to see an add-on though :-)
  • Hello Vanshyp,

I did not create an addon at the end. Main reason being: I am Lazy!
My setup is working correctly so far. Perhaps I will think about it when a new Raidator update comes up!

    Happy my guidance helped someone!

    Cheers,
    Z
  • Hi,

Can you tell me how to get the radiator source files ?

    Regards,
    Jeroen.
