Unable to connect to MySQL server
Hi All,
I've been trying to setup XBMC to use a MySQL database on my ReadyNAS 316 (OS6.1.9). I've installed MySQL, MyPHPAdmin and PHP. Using MyPHPAdmin I have created a user as per other guides, but when I launch XBMC I get an error advising it is unable to connect to MySQL - connection is refused.
according to what I have found, I believe the issue is that MySQL is not set to allow connections from sockets by default. I'm told that I need to hash out a couple lines in my.cnf, however I cannot figure out how to do this.
If anyone can shed any light on this, I would greatly appreciate it. If part of the response is to SSH into the device, a link to a guide on how to do this would be appreciated as my attempts have been unsuccessful so far.

- You can enable SSH under System > Services > SSH, but do consider the warning when you go to enable that service.
You can then use an editor such as vi to edit the file - Thank you.
The solution was to SSH in (what I wasn't aware of, and why I has requested a guide) was that the SSH user had to be root, not admin, or another account I had created.
After setting the bind address to 0.0.0.0 (and restarting MySQL) my issue was resolved.
Might be worth mentioning for anyone else that comes across this that at the least on a readynas 316 on OS6, there is no need for MySQLON - I assume this advice is for different and/or past models. - The MySQLON add-on is for legacy models without ReadyNAS Photos. By default MySQL is turned off on legacy models unless the NAS has ReadyNAS Photos.
