where is the Plex app?
Hi all, I went to the app list page but there's no mention of Plex! Does the app/add_on still exist? Thanks :)

You download it from https://www.plex.tv/downloads/
If you select NAS->Netgear and click on "download" it gives three choices (all OS 6) - x86, general arm and RN2xx.

I have an RN202 running OS 6.5.1 and just installed the Plex application after downloading it from the Plex site. I created a movie library and all of the movies along with the metadata is visible in the Plex app.
When I do to watch it on my LG TV (which has aUSB dongle to connect it to my network), it shows the ReadyNAS RN202 but when I select it it says there are no files to show.
I know this is a not a problem with the TV because if I fire up the Plex app on my Mac (which points to a different library) the movies show up onj the TV and play without issue. Also, I had previously installed Plex when it appeared in the ReadyNAS app list and it worked fine but had to reformat the ReadyNAS after that and now reinstalled the Plex app.
Anyone else having this issue? Any thoughts why the files don't appear using the Plex app on the ReadyNAS?

David

How is your LG TV connecting to your NAS, using a Plex client or something else?
Do you have ReadyDLNA enabled?

Thanks for your prompt reply.
The LG TV does not have a Plex client per se. The TV is several years old and has a USB dongle that allows the TV to joint the wireless network in me house. There is obviously some software inside the dingle that allows the TV to see media on the network.
I have tried using PLEX with the ReadyDLNA turned on and off and get the same results (no files are visible). That said, when Ready DLNA is enabled, both ReadyNAS DLNA and ReadyNAS RN202 (the Plex app) appear on the TV's menus as media sources but neither one lists files.

You installed the PLEX server on your NAS. You need the PLEX Client software to connect to the NAS and play that content. You need some type of Media Streaming device connected to your TV. This can be anything from a ROKU, a Amazon Fire Sitck or Box, a AppleTV 4, a Xbox 360 or Xbox One.
You can go here: https://www.plex.tv/apps/
To find a device that will work for your needs. I'm not understanding how your LG TV is conneted to the Internet?!?! I'm not sure of the point of the USB Dongle?!?! Does your TV have a HDMI port? As olong as you have that, most of the Media streaming devices will work for you. That Device, be it a Xbox or Roku or whatever, will connect to the Internet either using Ethernet or Wifi. Ethernet is always better and more Reliable, but Wifi will work as long as you have a Wifi Router. The USB dongle? It shouldn't even be in the picture. If you have a really old TV, Is it a HDTV at least or a older SD TV? The Xbox 360 I think you can do a Commonent connection for HD if you have that and don't have HDMI. This is the Red, Green,Blue for Video and Red/White for Audio, RCA plugs. 5 of them in total.
The only other option is a program that just plays directly like VLC. Again, you would need some type of streaming device that supported a App like that. A USB Dongle to Internet?!?! Not sure what that's actually getting you on your TV. Any number of Media Streaming devices will turn a normal dumb TV into a SmartTV. To use the Plex Server onyour NAS, you need to use the Plex Client software on some type of device you want to watch on. Have you tried watching on a Smartphone or Tablet for example? There's PLEX App's you can get for iOS and Android.
