'xterm-256color': unknown terminal type.

Hi,

while calling 'top' via ssh, it's giving me xterm error.
'xterm-256color': unknown terminal type.

I did try to switch the terminal type to 'xterm', but didn't solve the problem.

Can anyone tell me, what is the real issue behind this error?

I use putty myself, and have never seen that error.

If you're using OS X Terminal to ssh into Nas you need to change the terminal type to xterm.

Terminal > Preferences > Advanced > Terminfo > Declare terminal as:

Start a new session and you should be good.
