Assuming no USB disks are connected... (hopefully one is!)
I don't believe Seatools lets you see the SMART stats. You can see them with other free tools, including acronis drive monitor (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/pr ... e-monitor/).
So maybe try installing that program and looking at the SMART stats in Windows. Since they are maintained in the drive (and by the drive firmware) the reallocated sector counts should match.
Also, I think the SMART self-test is also run by the drive. So Seatools and the NAS should be executing the same test.
If the SMART stats look ok on the PC (0 reallocated sectors, not ~4000) then it seems likely that something is wrong in the NAS hardware or firmware. For instance, a failing SATA interface, or a power brick problem. Also, are the drive temps normal?
I'm not thinking of any obvious way the firmware could do this, but you could try an OS reinstall (or upgrading to 4.1.12).
