You can probably find a flexible cable extender that will make that card work, but supporting it is a problem not as easily solved.

The only difference between RN516 and RN716 (other than cpu and memory) is the 10Gbps card. I bought a used model of the card visible in that picture. ReadyNAS should support it, shouldn't it?

I believe it will. The 4220 uses a similar card, and I moved one to a 4200V2 converted to OS6 and it was recognized. I didn't have a way to actually use it, but the OS just showed it like it belonged. There certainly aren't different versions of the kernel compiled for units with and without, so the driver is going to be there.
