6.1.7 No Frontview with Chrome Version 34.0.1847.116 m

This is the latest stable release of Chrome, I'm somewhat disappointed to note from posts in the forum that Netgear knew about this prior to the release of 6.1.7 and yet appear to have done nothing to address this.

Also adding to the irritation is the lack of notification in the announcement post that this was a problem and that you should not update to 6.1.7 if you use Chrome and want to keep access to frontview.

Poor show Netgear.

  • My guess (just a guess) is that they accelerated 6.1.7's release to address heartbleed.

Compatibility with browser updates are addressed after a browser update goes stable. There may be a change in a beta browser which is reversed before it goes stable.

With the range of browsers out there, there are other browsers that can be used or the option to stay on an old version of Chrome till the compatibility issue is addressed.

I agree with Stephen that they needed to release 6.1.7 to address Heartbleed and couldn't wait to address Chrome v34 compatibility.
  • Seems to be working for me on 34.0.1847.131 m ...

I'd be quicker to point the finger at Google for making coding assumptions about the rest of the world than at Netgear for not keeping up ;-)

Chrome 34 had a bug with XML parsing as Skywalker pointed out. It is addressed in Chrome 35 and I think newer a Chrome 34 builds such as the one you are running.
