a 3rd architecture? seriously?
I mean really, why?
is it not confusing enough with 2+ sparc models and 9 x86 desktop models, that a 3rd architecture, which I am assuming will be requiring different addons and radiators releases is needed?
sorry, it's great that you can offer a very low price point, but I am really disappointed in the further fracturing of development and product resources.
The duo/nv+ should have been discontinued as soon as the ultra lines were released and all development focused on x86 and improving frontview and bringing raidator up to a more current debian release.

and about 12 hours ago on Google+: https://plus.google.com/u/0/107689211378624727495/posts/6C7cxdLcRiH - PapaBear1ApprenticeI realize it's far too late, but I wish they had chosen a different product name. We will not having to always ask an OP if his NV+ is v1 or v2 (same with the Duo). If they had chosen something like Entre2 and Entre4 then it would have been in line with the current Ultra/Pro names. I can see someone trying to download 4.1.10 and install it on an NV+ v2 and wondering why it is all messed up, or trying to install 5.3.4 on a Duo v1.

This point was made on day 1 of the beta test... - maxblackAspirant
I have used both "official" support which didn't help me, and tried to get advice here about my drive spinup problems to no responses at all. That's what I was referring to when I said "they DON'T support it anymore".mdgm wrote:
Duo and NV+ v1 are still supported. They recently received a firmware update 4.1.8... There's also still plenty of help available on the forum.maxblack wrote:
Sure, but it's cheap to build, and (as evidenced here) they DON'T support it anymore so aren't spending anything there either.TeknoJnky wrote: The duo/nv+ should have been discontinued as soon as the ultra lines were released...
I can understand that there is burnout with "the old stuff", but some of us have become disenchanted with Netgear. sphardy wrote: PapaBear wrote: I realize it's far too late, but I wish they had chosen a different product name.

I thought they would have remembered the lesson from the whole 'pioneer' debacle.- chirpaLuminary
I'm with ya, but the powers above overrode it.PapaBear wrote: I wish they had chosen a different product name. Admittedly these products have been around for a while now, so it's impossible to tell how many responses are from recent purchasers.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeIt is a very good and reliable product. My trusty old NV+ is still silently maintaining my essential backup, still with the original "weak" PSU it came with amost 4 1/2 years ago. This move addresses two of it major limitations - speed and the 2TB drive limitation. This also answers why the unit was discontinued after the introduction of the Ultras a year ago - there is still a market and they are now addressing that need.
- gibxxiGuideWell I for one might go for one of these for backup duties if nothing else. I sold my Duo to a close friend when I bought the Ultra. I've since regretted that decision. So at some point down the line I may be tempted. The feature-set is not as advanced as the Ultra line, but seeing as I have no use for NFS / iSCSI at this time anyway, a Duo v.2 would be a perfect answer for my "critical" backup files.
Only slight problem for me is only have a single power outlet near my main PC, an APC BackUPS ES-700, and no free sockets on it to plug the thing into, lol.

Meet the octopus (well, half of an octopus to be technically correct)...

Or a standard power strip will work too.
