An OS reinstall will reset the admin password back to the default setting (netgear1)

There will be some other issues to overcome:

(1) Current Windows (and I think Macs also ) no longer support SMB 1/CIFS for file sharing.  With Windows, you can enable the SMB 1/CIFS client in "turn windows features on or off").  With Macs, I think you will need to use AFP (which might require changes in the share settings on the NAS).

(2) current browsers no longer support TLS 1.0, so you might get an SSL version mismatch when you try to get into frontview.  You can temporarily use

• Internet Explorer if installed on the PC
• Edge in IE mode
• FireFox (changing a setting to allow TLS 1.0 connections)

If you want to keep using the NAS, then I recommend converting it to run OS-6 firmware.  But first things first - you need to regain access, and offload any data worth keeping.
