ReadyNAS RNDU4000 4.2 to OS6 boot failure
I've been wanting to upgrade my legacy NAS to OS6 for some time, so I finally gave it a try yesterday, unsuccessfully.
First, my data is backed up, so I don't mind if the solution wipes the disks.
I am going from 4.2 to OS6 (I think it was 6.6.0 that I had downloaded). I went in to the manual upgrade tab, loaded up the .bin, and rebooted when prompted. Then the NAS would hang at 98% (first time), 80% (second time), and now at 99% with a "upnphttpd.service" message. RAIDar shows storage with "management service is offline" status.
What to do? I've read many threads, but I'm not sure the other solutions will work for me.
Did you install the Prep add-on before installing the R4toR6 .bin ? The sole purpose of the Prep add-on is to trigger a factory reset (wipes all data, settings, everything) at the appropriate time.
If you didn't install the Prep add-on you'll need to do a manual factory default using the boot menu.

Ummmm.... Nope. The thread I read didn't mention the prep add-on.
How do I do a manual factory default?
