Antivirus scanner definition file update failed
8 days ago I started to get message "Antivirus scanner definition file update failed due to download failure. Check your Internet connection. " it continuous to show every day.
This happend a couple of years ago and seemed to correct itself after 3 or 4 days.
My internet connection is fine. i get the failure reporting emails from my NAS with no problem.
I have looked at a number of these reports on the community, but have seen no actual correction for the fault, although it must have been corrected as the report is sighned off.
can anyone give me a simple solution to this problem please
Well that was interesting. had to change internet adapter port because I inadvertantly disabled the port I was on. having changed the port, could now upload the 6.10.6 system update.
installed the update and lo and behold all is well. got an immeadiate antivirus file download and a number of other things that had been happening ( Plex not being able to be accessed for one) are now working ok again.
as I said in another area - never to late to learn. but would rather not have to :-)

You missed the 6.10.6 release. "Check for updates" isn't finding it yet (Netgear always posts it for manual installation first). But you can install if from https://kb.netgear.com/000064345/ReadyNAS-OS-6-Software-Version-6-10-6

thanks for your reply.
it brings up an interesting result.
I have not seen any reports of new version available on the NAS.
I downloaded the latest release and tried to upload it via the NAS admin page. it fails with response " unrecognised server error " .
there would seem to be something wrong with my NAS system. I have tried rebooting couple of days ago which didnt change anything.
so the problem has not expanded. the internet seems to be OK but perhaps the NAS has other problems.
Any ideas how we progress from here please?
