I have a Seagate BackupPlus 4TB USB drive connected to my NVX and it seems to work fine - just blow away the backup software and other crap on it and format it as Ext4, works just great. My Bluray player is streaming from it just fine, even though it is lowly USB 2.0 on the NVX.
