can i install a video converter program and run from NAS
i'm still trying to understand what a nas is exactly and what it can do more than backup my data. i do know the 422 can transcode from the nas to my tivo for instance.
but can i load a program...
ReadyNAS is a server that is optimized for storage. It runs debian linux. I don't believe that AVC is available for linux. Even if it were, you'd need to manual install it using the linux command line. If you don't know what you are doing, you can brick your NAS doing that.
Plex does have a feature that will do off-line transcoding - though I've never used it. You could try that and see if it works for you.
