Can I move disks with data from an older ReadyNAS Duo V1 to a new chassis?
We have a Duo V1, we not too long ago upgraded to 2T drives in it, now it says it is out of memory (been fine for over a year), can I simplify things by putting the drives with their data into a new chassis?
I'd love to ask Netgear pre-sales about this, but it seems that's not actually a thing AFAICT.
Drives are WDC WD20EFRX-68EUZN0 1862 GB
If I can, would that much simplify the drive mapping, vault backup config, etc?

No you can't. Netgear stopped manufacturing sparc-based NAS back in 2011. Everything currently shipping uses different processors, different linux kernels, and different file systems.
If you are using XRAID, you can connect disk 1 to a Windows PC (either with SATA or a USB/SATA adapter), and extract the data with r-linux for windows ( http://www.r-tt.com/free_linux_recovery/ )
You could also try upgrading the RAM in the duo. The duo is fussy about memory timings. But there's an old post that says a Corsair VS1GSDS333 will work. ( https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Hardware-Compatibility/Duo-V1-Memory-Upgrade-Recommended-module-at-this-time/m-p/850464#M5096 )
But even if you get it working, it makes sense to get a new NAS. Your duo can only provide SMB 1.0, which Microsoft is deprecating because of it's security issues. A new NAS supports SMB 3, is a lot faster, and has more functionality. My own duo is still in service, but only as secondary backup.
