Cyberpower CP1000AVRLCD UPS communication error

this UPS is basically the same as the CP1500AVRLCD and others have reported success with it. I just put one on my ReadyNAS 4200 and I'm getting communication error. Is there anything I can do to investigate this?

  • Looks like the system recognized everything about the UPS not sure what's going on

  • Dannie,
    (a) Are you seeing anything in 4200 logs?
    (b) Have you rebooted both devices, NAS being first off, and last on.
    (c) If no change, I suggest querying Cyberpower.

    Regards, Marto
  • The log doesn't show anything about the UPS being connected. Yesterday it would actually show "communication error" I just did what you suggested, power everything down and unplugged. Power on UPS and let it sit for a couple minutes, plugged in NAS and power on. Still no change.

I don't think this is a Cyberpower issue the UPS works fine on my PC.
  • I installed NUT on the server 2012 box but the HIDUSB driver failed to install, the FAQ documents for NUT was lacking any info to get the right driver installed on Windows, so I uninstalled NUT from it. If I can really get NUT to work on the PC it'll be perfect cause I just purchased a CP1500AVRLCD which I can now run an extension cable to the NAS and have both the server and NAS run off one unit.

btw: I also tested the CP1500AVRLCD on he ReadyNAS and same result.

Frontview will show that UPS is disconnected once I pull the USB cable, after I plug it back in, a few minutes later in system health, it'll show that the UPS is out of spec.
