Data recovery after RNDX4210 crashed
Hello everyone,
I had an electrical issue with a RNDX4210 a few days ago. Not just power unit get broke but the whole motherboard, since I manage to find a functional ATX power supply but unable to power on the godamn box...
Luckily I found the same model from a seller, hoping that it would go easily on recovery just by factory reseting the new one (with a new disk) and plug into it disks from the previous one, as described here (except I do it with both the same version) :
But it didn't really works... I plugged the 4 disks containing data but they failed SMART test except for one.
It seems that the electric indident may have damaged the disks.
So, at that point I'm stuck. I request some advices, in case you'll have ideas on that subject or experiment the same issue.
I really need those data, as you can guess...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks eveyone.

If the drives are that damaged, there is probably no recovery except very expensive recovery by a company that specializes in it. And they won't guarantee it'll even work.
If they are accessible at all, you could try cloning them to new drives, but that is a long shot (especially since you need at least two of the three to succeed.
This is just one of the reasons StephenB and I are always stressing the need for backup. Of course, in your case, another NAS or a USB drive connected as a backup may have also been damaged.

Oh well, that's probably the only thing left to do. You're so right about backing up data...
Thanks a lot anyway
