There is no actual speed advantage with 6Gb/s. As you say, the network is slower than the SATA bus, also a traditional hard drive's transfer rate is between no more than 1.5 GB/s.

All other things being equal, do you gain anything using a hard drive with a 6Gb/s interface rather than one with a 3Gb/s interface?
