Decrypt an encrypted Volume
Hi,
I encrypted some HDDs as I added them as new drives to my NAS RN104.
Now I don’t need the encryption anymore and want to decrypt them permanently. But how?
Thx

The only approved way I know of is to destroy the volume and re-create it. While the current version of the LUKS encryption (what the the NAS uses for encryption) has full decryption capability, it does not appear that Netgear has implemented that since the --reencrypt option of cryptsetup is missing. The help does show an erase <device> - erase all keyslots (remove encryption key) action that might do it. Can't hurt to try after backing up the contents and before you end up destroying the volume if it doesn't work.
